Season Change

The leaves are falling a little faster,
The temperature dips downward day by day.
It feels like the start of a new chapter,
But I'm stuck watching reruns, hitting replay.

Spine

Stack thirty-three vertebrae on top of each other like Jenga,
Add on a few pounds of pressure,
The parental and peer kind, both.
I got used to the pain, now it is my pleasure
To carry this heavy load.

Fabric Of Reality

When the universe stretched itself to its limit,

Unravelling the very fibre of its being

Into threads so minuscule

It dissolved into nothing, everything.

But the cloth could only hold on so long.

And the angels stopped their holy song

To go and find a a man

To sew back together the sacred bands.

They found a tailor willing to do the job

They gave him a needle made out of pixie dust

They hoped he would fix the world with a stitch

But he was a mere mortal, their expectations were unjust.

He did the best he could

Of course it wasn’t enough

The fabric of reality smothered him

Consumed his soul slowly

Until his breath gave birth to a new universe

Traces of You

My hands keep reaching out for yours

Even when you're not here anymore.
That alluring scent you exude
Keeps teasing me, pleasing me, putting me in the mood.
Those dark brooding eyes with which you stare at me from afar
Look at me the way an alcoholic looks at the bar.

I want to be your crippling addiction
The recipient of your adoration
Your one and only desire
The flame to your fire
Love me until I'm all you can do
Love me until all that's left behind are traces of you

Migratory Bird

He was a winter bird,
Flying far from home.
He stayed with me for warmth;
I didn’t want to let him go.
“Everything is perfect, is it not?”
I say as I hold him close.
“The grass is green and the air is clear
You won’t ever have to deal with snow”
He looks at me with wet eyes,
Within him a fire’s aglow.
“My wings were made to soar”
He cries out as he leaves me alone.
And here I sit and wonder if
He will return once more.

Contrast in Generations

When the people weren’t as blind as they are today
They could see through the lies politicians made
And demanded justice regardless of the price to pay.

Sunsets

When the Sun goes down, like it always does,

Purple and Red dance in the sky like lovers,

Painting the horizon with their passion.

Even the Stars blush as they carry on

Circus People

Come on, let’s put on a show

For all the people that we don’t know:

We have little billy here,

Who laughs when others sigh,

And Mrs. Smith, whose baby

Cries during my lines.

Tammy brought a dog inside

(Who cares if it’s not allowed?)

Farewell (for now)

Who would have thought we’d be here?

You and me, passing out of school this year.

(At least I hope we all pass…

It will be pretty embarrassing if we’re held back a class)

Devils On Earth

No devil’s deeds lived on.

Demons like to take the form of man and destroy

All that is holy to innocent little girls and boys.

They may snatch away the freedom so painstakingly earned,

But mark my words, their actions will be deftly returned.
